In another deafeningly dark night
standing out of the exterior light
gazing into the shadows
In a trance
an outline appeared
and I followed it into daylight
In the bright dark
the freedom and ignorance
of a starstruck child
was thrust onto me
Barefeet feeling the engravings of wood posts
pushing themselves onto the weaved net
of my childhood freedom
the days where someone would stare at the clouds in peace
or keep their grandma laughing too hard
faded seamlessly
