A baby bird sqwarks a loud cry for food. The
rain sounds trickle down the gutters. A low
haze settles over the valley and a cloud hang
about in the slightly foggy yet ambient sky. A
cold breeze wisps past the deck. The small
chatter of crickets and the feminine whisper
is heard far off. A car zips past on the road
splashing a puddle down. The sea has a foggy
haze stopping it from view. House lights and
street lamps are lit down across the valley,
almost as twinkles of stars in the night sky.
Quickly, a car zips down the driveway with
headlights on lighting the darker area in its
later dusk. It turns around and stops for a
second. A woman steps out of the car and
opens the garage and enters inside. The dog
on my lap jumps off and starts to wimpering
an exciting but longing cry. The night
becomes darker, laying a deepsea blue tint on
everything it touches. I stand up and let the
dog on from the swingseat me and the dog
were on. I let her and me inside to greet our
mother.
